In the land of search markets, Craigslist is gaining marketshare, while some of the bigger players are starting to lose their footing. Google is still the dominant force in search markets by a huge margin, with over 13 billion searches in one month. Yahoo is in second place, with a mere 3 billion searches, Microsoft checks in third with a little over a billion and AOL is bringing up the rear of the top 4, with a little over 700 million searches.

The interesting part of the ComScore report, is the fact that Craigslist has shown a 12% increase in searches in one months time. This rate of increase is staggering compaired to the increases of the leaders, who even lost market share. Of the top 10 firms included in the study, only 2, Facebook and Craigslist showed an increase.

It looks like the Customer Service Rep and founder, Craig Newmark has done an excellent job in representing his creation to his customers. Turning the reins over to CEO Jim Buckmaster turned out to be a brilliant move on Craig's part.
