Tweet Your Prayers

A relatively new website called Tweet Your Prayers just opened online. They will print out and place the prayers that you tweet to them, on the wailing wall in Jerusalem. The wailing wall, also known as the Kotel is Judaism's most holy site.

There is no charge for the service, but they do accept donations through a link on their site at www.tweetyourprayers.info. If you don't want your prayers made public, you can "follow" them and then send your prayer through "Direct Message," so that it remains private. If your prayer is too long to tweet, visit the site for the email address, and email it, it will be handled the same.

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation has operated a fax service that has done essentially the same thing, for years. Welcome to the 21st century and Twitter. So that the wall is maintained in accordance with strict jewish custom, the prayers are collected by a rabbi and buried.

This happens twice a year during Passover and the Jewish New Year. If you follow them and they don't follow you back within a few days, send them an email, you can find the address in their FAQ's. They followed me back in less than a day. No, you do not have to be jewish to send a prayer.
