Twitter Nailing Spammers
It had to happen eventually, Twitter has had it with the spammers. Twitter is asking its users to call Twitters attention to profiles they think are questionable. Twitter even has what is called their Trust and Safety Team to follow-up on the tips.
Twitter says they are not going to automatically exile the suspected spammers, but they will be blocked from following or replying to the reporting user. I haven't found spamming to be a problem myself. What could possibly be considered spam when some users are twittering every time they stand up.
My question is, "Why not block the offender yourself?" You simply click on followers in your account and click "block." There is now an additional choice positioned just below the block selection and it is called "Report for Spam." I think it's unnecessary, but then I don't have to handle the spam complaints.
I stepped into Twitter late, I have so few followers, most are glad to hear from me. I know I could join one of those services to get more followers, but it seems so pointless. I would like the people who are interested in this website to follow me.
I will use this article to invite all readers to follow me on Twitter. I will, in turn, follow most of you back. Since this site has a lot of readers from other countries, I'm pleased with Twitter's recent decision to translate Twitter so more readers can tweet in your native languages. Update: we now have over 10,000 followers with no service, we did it all ourselves.
