Los Angeles Using Google Apps?

Los Angeles, the nations second largest city, has been considering tossing it's current computer network, and using Google Apps instead. As you read here last week, Twitter, the popular communications company, was hacked recently, and the Google Apps program was involved.

Twitter Hacked-Again

Well it looks like Twitter was hacked...again. TechCrunch revealed hundreds of documents forwarded to them by the hacker, Wednesday. It appears that in this instance, the hacker got hold of an employee's personal e-mail account password. The unnamed Twitter administrative employee was hacked about a month ago, it seems. Through that attack, it is believed, the hacker gained access to the employee's Google Apps account. That's the new Google Apps package that includes e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, calendar and other Google services for $50 per user per year.

The methods used by the hacker to gain access to Twitter, underscore the dangers of the new trend promoted by Google Inc. and others toward storing more data online, instead of on computers controlled by you. Executives at Twitter believe only one user account was potentially compromised, because a screenshot of the account was included among the stolen documents delivered to TechCrunch.

Twitters popularity has increased dramatically in the last few months, after being used by protesters following the recent Iranian elections. "We are in touch with our legal counsel about what this theft means for Twitter, the hacker and anyone who accepts and subsequently shares or publishes these stolen documents," Twitter said in their official blog post. What this means to the public is, be careful in combining your personal information with your business information, and use more secure passwords. Don't use your street address, that's an easy one.

Need More Web Traffic?

The big question for today is, "how do I get more traffic to my website?" If you're having difficulty attracting visitors to your website, maybe you just need a little nudge in the right direction. Web traffic, as you know, is "THE" essential ingredient for the success of any blog or website. Without sustained, regular traffic, your site will have no income and no energy. Without visitors to your webpage, your efforts will be largely for naught. Website visitors can bring your blog to life, and give it the energy it needs to rank high in the search engine results pages.

There are no simple solutions to increasing your web traffic, no silver bullets. Increasing your web traffic takes a continuing effort, and fresh, interesting content that changes on a daily basis. SEO, search engine optimization, is an excellent strategy for getting more web traffic to your site. Optimizing your page title, your H1 headings, and meta tags will get you started. Choosing the right keywords to describe your content is essential for decent search engine positioning.

You should also be using the available keyword tools to write each article for your blog or website. There are many excellent free keyword tools that you should be using, including Google's Adwords keyword tools. There are also several professional quality keyword tools that you should be using to write your articles. The keyword tool I recommend, I use it everyday, click here for a preview of Keyword Elite. If you buy it through a link on this website, and it doesn't do everything it claims within 60 days, return it for a full, no questions asked, refund. You can't beat that.

If all of your efforts still don't produce results, try using a website like www.utume.com. Here you will find users, like you, that need to generate traffic to their websites. The traffic is FREE and is generated by mutually agreeing with fellow users to write reviews and comments and to share bookmarks. There is also a free forum where you can explicitly ask users to recommend your webpage to his or her social bookmarking site. Try it, and good luck generating traffic.

Bing Or Google?

It looks like Bing has made quite a splash as THE new search tool. I haven't quite made up my mind just yet. Microsoft must be pleased with the attention Bing has been receiving from the under 30 crowd. My 22 year old son told me to check it out. To me, it looks like an Ajaxed Google. I've been faithfully searching with Google for around 10 years now. I was faithful when everyone else was Yahooing. I may be Binging soon. Microsoft has taken many important cues from Google, and expanded on them as only a multibillion dollar company can.

The homepage is always breathtaking and clickable, with several hotspots to keep it interesting. I can still perceive a heavy Google influence. I can't help thinking about Google Earth whenever I navigate the homepage. Bing has made it easy for you to enjoy their stunning homepage photos, over and over again. By installing Microsoft's Silverlight on your computer, you can go back and see the homepage images and hotspots from the past week. I think that would make a terrific slideshow. I guess there is one important fact you can't overlook...It's A Search Engine.

The search interface is easy enough, it looks like MSN's. There is a tiny bit more information given on your search topic when you hover your cursor, in the margins. I would have to give the title of "best deliverer" of search results to Google. Bing's got a ways to go before surpassing Google in that area. Hey, Bing is a very attractive and innovative site. It's a very interesting site, and the presentation of the news and the other features is great. I don't think it will threaten Google's hold on searches...not yet anyway...but I will make it a daily stop, just for the graphics.
